Delete your data
Delete content, sites, keys, members, a workspace or your account yourself, and answer a visitor's request to delete what they shared in a chat.

On this page
You can delete your data yourself in the dashboard, and it takes effect right away. This page lists what you can delete, from the smallest change to closing your account.
What you can delete yourself
| To delete | Where | Who can |
|---|---|---|
| A Q&A pair | Knowledge → Q&A pairs → Delete | Everyone in the workspace |
| A text snippet, file or website section | Knowledge → Delete on the source | Everyone in the workspace |
| A single page | Knowledge → Pages → Remove or Exclude | Everyone in the workspace |
| A site, with its knowledge, Q&A pairs and conversations | Sites → the site → Delete this site | Owners and admins |
| An API key | Settings → API → Revoke | Owners and admins |
| A member's access | Settings → Members → Remove | Owners and admins |
| Your own access to a workspace | Settings → Members → Leave | Everyone, except the last owner |
| Everything about one visitor | Settings → Data → Visitor data requests | Owners and admins |
| A whole workspace | Settings → Data → Delete workspace | Owners |
| Your account | Settings → Data → Delete your account | You, once you own no workspace |
Each deletion asks you to confirm. Agents stop using deleted content right away.
Remember the difference between Remove and Exclude for pages: a removed page comes back with the next sync if it's still on your website; an excluded page doesn't. See Exclude pages.
Delete a site
Deleting a site is the way to remove everything ASDK has for one website: its pages, files, snippets, Q&A pairs, the knowledge built from them and its conversations and leads.
Export what you want to keep
If you'll need the leads later, export them first. See Leads and CSV export.
Delete the site
Open Sites, open the site's settings and choose Delete this site at the bottom. Confirm in the dialog. This can't be undone.
Remove the snippet from your website
The widget stops working on the site right away, but the script tag stays on your pages until you remove it. Remove it from your template, theme or tag manager.
If you only want the widget off for a while, Pause site turns it off and stops reading your site, without deleting anything.
Delete a workspace or your account
An owner deletes a whole workspace, with all its sites, members and data, under Settings → Data → Delete workspace. For 30 days support can restore it if an owner asks; after that it is deleted for good. You delete your own account under Settings → Data → Delete your account, once you own no workspace. See Deleting a workspace or your account.
To keep conversations and leads for a shorter or longer time, change the period per site under Settings → Data → Retention. See Data retention. For questions about your personal data under privacy law, you can also use the privacy contact in our privacy policy.
How fast data is gone
- From the dashboard and your agents: right away.
- From our live systems: within 30 days.
- From encrypted backups: when they expire, within a further 30 days.
When a visitor asks you to delete their data
For your visitors' data, your company is the controller, so the request is yours to answer, and ASDK gives you the tools. If a visitor asks you to delete what they shared in a chat:
- Find their data. Under Settings → Data → Visitor data requests, search by their email address or visitor id.
- Download a copy if they asked for one, then delete everything: their conversations, leads, form answers, voice calls, booked meetings and analytics events go in one step.
- Delete it in your other tools too: CRM, mailing tools, spreadsheets with exported leads.
If a visitor contacts ASDK directly, we pass the request to you and help you respond, as our privacy policy describes.
Data in visitors' browsers
The widget keeps a random visitor ID and a few small settings in each visitor's browser storage. Deleting a site or a conversation on our side doesn't reach into visitors' browsers; the entries stay until the visitor clears their site data, and on their own they identify nobody. Visitors can clear them in their browser's settings for your site. If your site calls asdk("shutdown") on logout, the widget forgets the signed-in identity and the current conversation in that browser too.
Before you uninstall
If you're leaving ASDK:
- Export leads you want to keep.
- Remove the script from your website.
- Delete the workspace under Settings → Data, then your account.
