Notifications: email and Slack

Get told about new leads by email and in Slack: who receives lead emails, how often they arrive, how to connect a Slack webhook and how to opt out.

On this page

A lead is worth most in the first minutes after a visitor leaves their details. Notifications bring new leads to where your team already works, by email and in Slack, so nobody has to keep the dashboard open.

Emails about new leads

When a visitor sends the contact form, the workspace's owners and admins get an email with the lead's details and a link to the conversation.

  • They arrive right away. If several leads come in on the same site within a minute, they're combined into one email, so a busy hour doesn't flood your inbox.
  • They come from ASDK. Emails are sent from login@mail.asdk.com, the same address as your sign-in links. If they land in spam, see Emails not arriving.
  • Members don't get them. To have someone receive lead emails, make them an admin, or use Slack or a shared mailbox. See Members and roles.

Turn lead emails off

  • For one site, for everyone: switch off Email new leads to owners and admins on the site's card.
  • For yourself only: switch off New leads under Your emails, or use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any lead email. Your colleagues keep getting theirs, and you keep getting sign-in links and other account emails.

Slack

Slack notifications post each new lead to a channel of your choice. They're set per site, with a Slack incoming webhook: a private address that lets ASDK post to that one channel.

Create the webhook in Slack

In Slack's app settings, create an app for your workspace, or use one you already have. Open Incoming Webhooks, switch Activate Incoming Webhooks on, choose Add New Webhook to Workspace, pick the channel and choose Authorize. Slack's guide to incoming webhooks shows each step (checked October 2026).

Copy the webhook URL

Slack shows the new URL under Webhook URLs for Your Workspace. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.

Add it to your site in ASDK

On Leads → Notifications, paste the URL into Webhook URL on the site's card and choose Save webhook. ASDK accepts only addresses that start with https://hooks.slack.com/. Owners and admins can connect Slack.

Send a test

Choose Send a test message. A test message should appear in the channel within seconds. If it doesn't, check that the URL was copied completely and that the app is still installed in your Slack workspace.

To post leads of different sites to different channels, add a separate webhook to each site.

Keep the webhook private

Anyone with the webhook URL can post into your channel. Don't paste it into public code or chat. If it leaks, remove the webhook in Slack's app settings, create a new one and paste it under Replace the webhook URL in ASDK. Disconnect stops posting to Slack. Slack also revokes webhook URLs it finds published.

Setup emails stop after your first week. They include a welcome with the install link, a reminder if the widget isn't installed after a day, and a note on how your agent is doing.

The browser alternative

If you'd rather pass leads to your own systems, the widget raises a lead event in the visitor's browser the moment the form is sent. Your site's code can forward it to a tag manager, an analytics tool or your own backend. See JavaScript API.
