Be readable and usable by AI assistants

Buyers ask ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini to research suppliers, and those assistants fetch websites for them. Agent-Ready gives them a clean summary of your site and tools to ask questions, check prices and contact you.

Example. Wide World Importers is a fictional company.

Sound familiar?

  • “We don’t know what AI assistants read about us.”

A buyer asks an assistant to compare suppliers. It reads a few pages of your site in seconds, and you never see what it found.

  • “Our site was built for people with a browser.”

Prices sit in PDFs, key facts load with scripts, and nothing tells an agent where to start.

  • “We can’t tell whether agents visit at all.”

In ordinary analytics, an AI agent fetching your pricing page looks like any other bot, or like a person.

What Agent-Ready gives an AI agent

Shown on the site of Wide World Importers, a fictional wholesaler of homewares for independent shops.

  1. A summary it can read: llms.txt

ASDK writes and hosts an llms.txt from your knowledge base: your key pages first, a one-line note for each, kept up to date by itself, plus an llms-full.txt with the full text. Point /llms.txt on your domain at it with a rewrite or a redirect.

  2. Tools it can call: WebMCP

On pages with the widget, browsers that support WebMCP get four tools: ask a question, get pricing, find the booking link and contact sales. Contacting sales needs the visitor’s consent; other browsers simply ignore the tools.

  3. A score, the fixes and who visits

The readiness score runs the checks of our free checker, from crawler access and llms.txt to text in the HTML and structured data, with copy-paste fixes. On Pro and up you also see llms.txt fetches, page loads by AI agents that name themselves, and tool calls.

No file or tag can make an assistant recommend you. Agent-Ready makes your site easier to read and act on; what an assistant says is still up to the assistant.

What we know about AI agents, with sources

  • OpenAI, Anthropic and Google document user agents that fetch a page when a person asks their assistant something: ChatGPT-User, Claude-User and Google-Agent.
  • llms.txt is a proposal published at llmstxt.org in September 2024, not a web standard. Assistants may or may not read it.
  • WebMCP is a Draft Community Group Report of the W3C Web Machine Learning Community Group, not a W3C Standard. Chrome is testing it in an origin trial.
  • ChatGPT’s agent browser signs its requests with a Signature-Agent header set to chatgpt.com, so websites can tell them apart from ordinary browsers.

  2. Switch on Agent-Ready

It’s part of every plan, Free included, and works from the knowledge base your other agents use.

  3. Serve llms.txt at your address

Add the rewrite or redirect for your platform, such as Next.js, Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare, nginx or Apache, then press Check now.

  4. Offer the WebMCP tools

Turn on Offer WebMCP tools, and the widget registers them on every page where it runs.

Where it stops

  • No promise of mentions or rankings

Nobody controls what an assistant answers. Agent-Ready removes obstacles; it doesn’t buy placement.

  • WebMCP needs a browser that supports it

Today that means Chrome’s origin trial. Other browsers ignore the tools, and agents read your pages instead.

  • Not every agent can be counted

Many agentic browsers look like regular browsers. Their page loads count only when they name themselves; their tool calls always count.

  • Visit analytics come with Pro

llms.txt, the tools and the readiness score are in every plan. Agent visit analytics come with Pro and up.

Questions, answered

The short version of what people ask before they set this up.

Something else? Write to hello@asdk.com

Is this the same as SEO?

Related, but not the same. Search engines rank pages; AI assistants read a few pages and write an answer. Agent-Ready helps with the reading: a clear summary, text in the HTML, structured data and tools to act. Good SEO basics help both.

We already have an llms.txt. Do we need this?

No. You can switch the hosted files off and keep your own. The readiness score, the tools and agent visits work either way.

Should we block AI crawlers?

That’s your call, and robots.txt is where you make it. Blocking crawlers that collect training data doesn’t have to block the assistants that fetch a page because a person asked. The free checker shows which AI bots your robots.txt allows.

What does it cost?

Agent-Ready is part of every plan, Free included. Agent visit analytics come with Pro and up. The readiness checker is free and needs no account.
