Keyword search fails the questions people actually type

Visitors type whole questions into search boxes. Keyword search answers with a list of loosely related pages and leaves the reading to them, and the visitor who searched with intent leaves with nothing.

  1. “Do you ship to Canada?” returns 40 blog posts

The answer is on your shipping page, but keyword search ranks it below every article that mentions Canada once. The visitor gives up after the first screen.

  2. No results for the words customers use

Your docs say “single sign-on”; your buyers type “SSO login”. Keyword search finds nothing, and the visitor assumes you don’t have it.

  3. Failed searches vanish

Searches that found nothing are the clearest list of missing content you will ever get, and they rarely reach the person who writes your pages.

How Search will work

  1. Swap the search box

Search will take over the results of your existing search box, using the same script as your other agents.

  2. Visitors search in their own words

A query like “which plan has SSO?” will get a two- or three-sentence answer from your knowledge base, with links to the pages it used.

  3. The best pages follow the answer

Under the answer, Search will list the most relevant pages, so people who prefer to browse can still browse.

  4. Learn from searches that failed

Queries without a good answer will go to a “searched but not found” list in your dashboard, so you know which page to write or fix.

An answer first, then the pages

What it will doSearch is coming soon. This section describes what we are building, and details may change before launch.

  • Best pages by meaning

The most relevant pages for the query, ranked by what the words mean rather than by exact keyword matches.

  • Searched but not found

A list of the queries your site couldn’t answer and how often each one comes up.

Also planned for Search

  • Answer at the top

A short answer above the results, written from your content and linked to the pages it came from.

  • Same knowledge as Chat

Search and Chat will read from one knowledge base, so a fix to one page improves both.

One query, one answer, three pages

A shopper types a question into the search box and gets the answer before the list of pages.

What to notice

  • The answer comes first, with the pages it is based on.
  • The best pages are still there for people who want to browse.
  • Searches without a good answer are collected for you.

  2. AI answer

Yes. Standard orders ship to Canada in 5–7 business days. Duties and taxes are calculated at checkout, so there is nothing to pay on delivery.

  3. Best pages

    • International orders/help/internationalDuties, taxes and customs forms for orders outside the US.

For sites where the right page exists but is hard to find

  • E-commerce and parts suppliers

Help buyers find the right part, size or compatibility answer without scrolling through a page of results.

  • SaaS documentation

Turn docs search into answers that link to the exact setup page.

  • Content-heavy sites

Sites with hundreds of guides, articles or service pages, where visitors know what they want but not where it lives.

  • Industrial and B2B suppliers

Let engineers search product lines and specifications in their own words, not your catalog’s naming.

Questions about Search

When will Search be available?

Search is coming soon. We don’t publish dates we can’t keep; join the waitlist and we’ll let you know when you can try it on your site.

Will Search replace my existing search?

That’s the plan: it will take over the results of your search box and show an answer and the best pages instead of a plain list of keyword matches.

Where will the answers come from?

From the same knowledge base as Chat: your pages, docs and Q&A. Every answer will link the pages it used, and when nothing fits, Search will say so and show the closest pages instead.

What is “searched but not found”?

A dashboard list of the searches your content couldn’t answer, with how often each one appears. It’s the quickest way to decide what to write or fix next.

Which plans will include Search?

Search is planned for Starter ($39 a month, or $31 a month billed annually) and every plan above it. Starter also includes Chat and Agent-Ready, which you can use now.

How is Search different from Chat?

Chat is a conversation in a widget: visitors ask, follow up and leave their details. Search will live in your search box and answer one query at a time, with the best pages underneath. Both will use the same knowledge base.

Can I try something similar today?

Yes. Chat answers questions from the same knowledge base today, so you can judge the quality of answers on your own content while Search is being built.
