Install

Install ASDK on your website

Put the ASDK widget on your site with one script tag. Where to find your snippet, guides for nine platforms, and how to check that the install works.

Last updated

On this page

ASDK runs on your website through one script tag. The same tag loads every agent you switch on in the dashboard, so you install it once and change agents, colors and texts later without touching your site again.

Your snippet

Open Install in the ASDK dashboard. The snippet there already contains your site's ID:

HTML
<script async src="https://cdn.asdk.com/v1/asdk.js" data-site-id="SITE_ID"></script>

SITE_ID is the public ID of your site: site_ followed by 20 letters and digits. It is not a secret, because every visitor's browser sees it, but it must match the site you set up in ASDK.

The tag is async, so it never holds up the rest of your page. Paste it once per page, ideally just before the closing </body> tag or in your platform's "custom code" setting for all pages.

Publish the change

Most builders only add custom code to the published site, not to the editor's preview. Publish or deploy, then open your site in a normal browser window.

Check the installation

Back on the dashboard's Install page, click Check installation. ASDK opens your home page (and one more page if you enter it), looks for the snippet with your site's ID and reads your site's Content Security Policy. The widget also reports itself when it loads on your site, so an install through a tag manager counts as soon as a visitor, or you, opens a page.

If the check finds a problem, it tells you what to change. The troubleshooting guide covers each result in more detail.

Someone else manages your site?

On the Install page, choose the platform and use Email these instructions to my developer. ASDK sends one email with the snippet and the steps for that platform; replies go to you.

What the widget needs from your site

  • Scripts from https://cdn.asdk.com and connections to https://api.asdk.com. Sites without a Content Security Policy need nothing; sites with one need both addresses allowed. See Content Security Policy.
  • No cookies. The widget keeps a random visitor ID in the browser's local storage so a conversation continues on the next page. The privacy policy explains what ASDK stores.
