A workspace's members are the people who can sign in to it: to read conversations, improve knowledge and manage the widget. Each member has one of three roles. This page explains the roles and how to invite and remove people.

Roles

RoleMeant for
OwnerThe person responsible for the workspace. Whoever creates a workspace is its owner.
AdminPeople who manage the workspace with the owner: settings, sites, team and keys.
MemberPeople who use the workspace: support, sales and content colleagues.

Invite someone

Open Members

Open Settings → Members. Only owners and admins can invite.

Enter the email and role

Under Invite people, enter the person's Email and pick a Role: Member or Admin. Use the address they'll sign in with.

Send the invitation

Choose Send invitation. They get an email with a link to join, and the invitation appears under Pending invitations.

Invitations are valid for 7 days and work for the invited address only. To withdraw one, choose Revoke invitation next to it under Pending invitations; the link stops working. If an invitation expired, send a new one.

Each plan includes a number of team seats; see Plans and limits.

Accept an invitation

The invitation email links to a page titled "Join" and the workspace's name.

  • Already signed in with the invited address? Choose Accept and join. You land in the workspace.
  • Not signed in? Choose Sign in to accept. If you don't have an ASDK account yet, signing in creates one.
  • Signed in with another address? The page says so and offers Sign in as the invited address.

If the page says the invitation was already accepted, has expired or was withdrawn, ask the person who invited you for a new one.

Change someone's role

Roles can't be edited in place yet. To make a member an admin, or the other way round, remove the person and invite them again with the new role. Their account stays; only their access to this workspace changes.

To hand a workspace to someone else, for example when its owner leaves your company, write to hello@asdk.com from the owner's email with the Workspace ID.

Remove someone

On Settings → Members, choose Remove next to the person and confirm. They lose access to this workspace right away; you can invite them again later. Their own account and their other workspaces aren't affected.

  • Admins can remove members and other admins, but not owners.
  • The last owner can't be removed.

Remove people when they leave your company or no longer need access. If they created API keys for their own scripts, revoke those keys too; see API keys.

Leave a workspace

Choose Leave next to your own name and confirm with Leave workspace. You lose access right away, and someone will need to invite you again to come back. If you're the last owner, the workspace needs another owner first.

Good practice

  • Give the least access that works. Most colleagues need the Member role.
  • Keep two people who can manage the workspace, such as an owner and an admin, so you're not locked out when one is away.
  • Use personal addresses, not shared ones, so you know who changed what and can remove one person without affecting others.
