How it works with WordPress
On this page
WordPress sites range from five-page brochure sites to content-heavy blogs with hundreds of posts. ASDK adds AI agents to any of them with one script tag: a chat agent that answers visitors from your own pages, a sales agent that qualifies leads, and an agent that makes your site easier for AI assistants to read. This page explains what you get on WordPress, the two ways to install it and what is still coming soon.
What ASDK adds to a WordPress site
ASDK builds one knowledge baseA knowledge base is the curated set of content an AI agent is allowed to answer from, such as web pages, help articles, PDFs and FAQs, kept indexed and current. from your public pages and any documents you upload, and every agent you switch on answers from it. On a WordPress site that usually means your pages, posts, product or service pages and FAQ. You keep writing in WordPress as you do today; ASDK reads the published result.
- Chat (early access, from the Free plan) answers visitors' questions from your content, links the pages each answer came from, and offers to take contact details when it cannot help.
- Sales (early access, from the Pro plan) asks the qualifying questions you write in plain language and offers a meeting to visitors who fit.
- Agent-Ready (early access, from the Free plan) publishes what your knowledge base knows in formats AI assistants read well, such as a hosted llms.txtllms.txt is a proposed Markdown file at a website's root that gives AI tools a short summary of the site and links to the pages that matter most. file.
- Search is coming soon. It will answer in place of your search box, with sources.
The agents overview explains each one and its plan.
Two ways to install it
Both methods load the same widget from the same address. Pick the one that fits how you manage the site.
| Header and footer plugin | ASDK plugin | |
|---|---|---|
| What you paste | The whole snippet | Your site ID |
| Where it lives | The plugin's footer box | Settings → ASDK |
| Extra options | None | Position, language, pages to leave out |
| Availability | Available now | Upload the file; directory listing coming soon |
With a header and footer plugin
A code snippet plugin keeps the script when you change themes, which editing footer.php in a theme does not. WPCode, formerly "Insert Headers and Footers", is a free option listed in the WordPress.org directory (checked October 2026). Paste your snippet from the dashboard's Install page into its footer box:
<script async src="https://cdn.asdk.com/v1/asdk.js" data-site-id="SITE_ID"></script>With the ASDK plugin
The plugin "ASDK — AI Agents for Your Website" adds the widget without touching code. You paste your site ID under Settings → ASDK, and the settings page shows "Connected" when the ID has the right format. It works on WordPress 6.4 and later.
The plugin is coming soon to the WordPress.org plugin directory. Every plugin there goes through a review by the directory's volunteer team before it is listed; their developer FAQ explains the process (checked October 2026). Until the listing goes live, you can upload the plugin file under Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin if you have it, or use the header and footer plugin method above.
Set up ASDK on WordPress
Create your site in ASDK
Add your website in the dashboard. ASDK reads your public pages and builds the knowledge base, and the Install page shows your snippet with your site ID.
Add the snippet or the plugin
Use one of the two methods above. The full WordPress install guide has every click, including where to find each setting.
Clear caches
If you use a caching or optimization plugin, clear its cache after saving. Some of these plugins also delay or combine scripts; exclude cdn.asdk.com from those options. See cached pages.
Check the installation
Open your site in a private window, since some caching setups serve logged-in admins a different page. Look for the chat button, then click Check installation on the dashboard.
If someone else manages your WordPress site, the Install page can email them the snippet and these steps.
What is available and what is coming soon
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Install with a header and footer plugin | Available |
| ASDK plugin, uploaded as a file | Available |
| ASDK plugin in the WordPress.org directory | Coming soon |
| Chat, Sales and Agent-Ready agents | Early access |
| Search agent | Coming soon |
ASDK as a whole is in early access: the agents work and you can use them, but they may change while we improve them.
WordPress details worth knowing
- WordPress.com. Adding plugins or header and footer code depends on your WordPress.com plan; WordPress.com's guide to adding code to your site lists the options (checked October 2026). Self-hosted WordPress has no such limit.
- Consent banners. If a consent plugin holds back scripts until a visitor agrees, put ASDK in the category your privacy lead chooses. The widget sets no cookies; it keeps a random visitor ID in the browser's local storage. See consent managers.
- Security plugins and CSP. If a plugin or your host sends a Content Security Policy, allow
https://cdn.asdk.comfor scripts andhttps://api.asdk.comfor connections. The CSP section shows the exact lines. - Membership areas. ASDK reads public pages only. Content behind a login is not in the knowledge base unless you upload it as a document.
Getting better answers from a WordPress site
The agents can only be as good as the pages they read. A few habits make the biggest difference on WordPress:
- Put facts in text, not in sliders or images. Prices, service areas and opening hours inside an image or a carousel are hard for any reader, human or machine, to quote.
- Keep one page per topic. A clear page about each service answers better than a long page that mixes five of them.
- Write the FAQ you keep answering by email. Short questions with direct answers are the easiest passages for an agent to cite.
- Unpublish what is out of date. Old pricing posts and retired services are still public pages, and the crawler reads public pages.
Our guide to keeping a website AI assistant accurate covers the routine, and adding an assistant to WordPress, Webflow and Wix compares the platforms side by side.

Frequently asked questions
Something else? Write to hello@asdk.com
Do I need the ASDK plugin to use ASDK on WordPress?
No. A header and footer plugin such as WPCode adds the same script tag and loads the same widget. The ASDK plugin only adds a settings screen, so you can paste your site ID instead of code.
Is the ASDK plugin in the WordPress.org plugin directory?
Not yet. It is coming soon to the directory. Until it is listed, use a header and footer plugin, or upload the plugin file if you already have it.
Will ASDK slow down my WordPress site?
The script loads asynchronously, so it does not hold up your page. It sets no cookies. If a caching or optimization plugin delays or combines scripts, exclude cdn.asdk.com so the widget appears right away.
Does ASDK work on WordPress.com?
Yes, if your WordPress.com plan lets you add plugins or code to the site header or footer. Which plans allow that is up to WordPress.com, so check their guide for your plan.
Does ASDK read my posts and pages?
It reads your public pages the way a search engine does and follows your robots.txt rules. Drafts, private posts and pages behind a login are not read.
